Ferrier Mountain Lookout point is an amazing place from where you can see a panoramic view of Torres del Paine National Park, including glaciers, all lakes and mountains.
The start point is located just 500 meters away from the Hostería Lago Grey. Checkpoint in the begining at Conaf´s post, where you should put your name and some data in a notebook. After that you are ready to go up. The level of the trekking is medium and can be done by almost anybody. I´ve have done it a few times and I love it. Last time I did was in September 19th, 2007 with 2 new friends Reiner (63) and Roland (58) from Germany.
The day was amazing and we enjoyed a lot while ascending. The landscapes appears as you go up and is always getting better. There is a point when you can see most lakes of the Park and the whole frame looks like painted by some artist. Though the walk is breathtaking it is worth the effort. Almost before getting there we walked by the side of the mountaint to take its back side that leads to the lookout point. Wow! You can really see all the lakes of the park, mountains and glaciers. We are at 600 meters above sea level and it looks great.
Things you must carry: A photo camera, some water and Roland's foresight. (Roland brough some sausages and bread that were really rewarding, thanks Roland. I was more worried about my photo equipment... haha)
